Good musicians will often use other peoples music as an influence of there own.

It's very important to learn the different parts of the guitar. You don't want to be one of those people who can play a little guitar, but don't even know what most of the parts are. Learn what those important frets are, what the tunning pegs are, and what a pickup switch is. Get familiar with that lingo and find out what it actually does.
